I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who was generous with their time and offered to help me name my kit. I had an overwhelming response and it was very hard to choose. So I picked my top 3 and then my ct and I got together and decided on a name. The winner is Crystal from The Template Club and her entry was Homespun Happiness. WOOT... congrats Crystal, she received the Homespun Happiness kit and bracket album for free. And our two runner ups were Nancy and Margie. Nancy suggested My Country Cousin (which I loved that name) and Margie suggested Little Bit Country (and that really suited the kit also). Those 2 brilliant ladies received the bracket album as a prize. So I now want to introduce you to my new kit called Homespun Happiness and a 6 page Bracket Album. April is Autism Awareness month and it is very important to me and I would like to share my story with you. I have a 5 yr old son, Christopher who is Autistic. He has AS (Aspergers Syndrome)

Asperger's Syndrome is a neurological disorder that, like others on the spectrum, is marked by difficulties in communication and social interaction. The set of characteristics easily identified with the condition was first identified by Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger. Children with Asperger's Syndrome find it difficult to identify and express their feelings, just like those with classic autism. They find it challenging, even impossible, to connect with others, often don't hold eye contact and have trouble reading other people's faces and gestures. Many kids flap their hands, a behavior often associated with classic autism; speak without much emotion (or have otherwise unusual speech patterns); need to follow schedules rigidly or else the world feels out of control, and are intensely, even obsessively, interested in one specific subject, so much that they become veritable experts in that field. They also exhibit sensitivities to various stimuli, from sounds to clothing to food items.

He is a darling boy and just a joy to have around. But it has been a long road for us. At 10 months old, I noticed some of his behaviors were out of the ordinary, I didnt have that much experience, he was my second child. But I did take some psychology classes in college and some things he was doing reminded me of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). I kinda brushed it off and thought hey my son is SO smart. Well, things progressed and got worse. After several trips to the pediatrician and visits to the childrens hospital I finally got a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum. Later, it was narrowed down to Aspergers. Now with aspergers, the child does not have speech problems, instead it is almost the opposite. In Christophers kindergarten class the majority of the students were at an average of 20% of where they need to be for the end of the year... at that time, Christopher was at 70%. WOW...woo hoo... I know. But it kind of hurt him. He has major social problems and is unable to participate in group activities. Among other things...anyway, the school wouldnt help me because they said "his disability does not interfere with his ability to learn"... well of course not, he has no academic problems... just social. After lots of meetings and constant fighting with school, I finally was given a 504. I wanted and IEP but they wouldnt give it to me. A 504 is basically a educational plan that allows for some of his behaviors to be accepted due to his autism. Christopher takes the special ed bus to and from school. He is in regular ed right now but if he has a meltdown or a situation he is able to go into the special ed room and hang out there until he is calmed. There is SO much to say and I just dont have the words to express how important being aware of this disability is. I believe the teachers need to be more educated on the matter in order to help our children. These kids go through so much and the prevalence of autism had risen to 1 in every 150 American children, and almost 1 in 94 boys.

Know the Signs: Early Identification Can Change Lives
Autism is treatable. Children do not "outgrow" autism, but studies show that early diagnosis and intervention lead to significantly improved outcomes.

Here are some signs to look for in the children in your life:
-Lack of or delay in spoken language
-Repetitive use of language and/or motor mannerisms e.g.,handflapping,wirling objects)
-Little or no eye contact
-Lack of interest in peer relationships
-Lack of spontaneous or make-believe play
-Persistent fixation on parts of objects

Shabby Cottage - New Release and a Freebie

Good Evening...Today has been a loooong day...lol. Hubby never came home because they closed the pass he has to take to come home and he got stuck in seattle. So he is going to stay until next saturday...WOW 2 weeks by myself with the kids... it hasnt been that bad... not as bad as those first 2 days. They've settled down quite a bit...it is hard to keep up on my scrapping addiction and take care of the kids too. So I havent been spending as much time on the computer...the kids come first...hehehe. I did however manage to get out a new kit this week. It is called Shabby Cottage.

It was inspired by a thought my mom and I had. We were talking about opening up a shoppe. Where we have tea parties, little girls can come in and have a tea party with their friends, there would be a trunk full of dress up clothes and a portrait studio. Everything is shabby chic...lots of linen, delicates, antiqued metal racks, flowers and a bunch of girlie pretties. Anyway... that is what I was thinking of when I made this kit... hope you enjoy.

PS... thanks for the comments and emails about the kids. Just a quick update...the kids are all doing much better... think it was those first couple days. The mountain pass that my husband has to cross is closed due avalanches... SO.. he wont be home until NEXT weekend... YIKES!! I have to give props to those moms whose husbands are in the military or travel for work... I DONT KNOW HOW YOU GUYS DO IT... I have really had to stay on the ball with the kids in showing them that I have just as much authority as dad. They are finally listening to me and my 13 yr olds... HOLY COW... teens are hard to deal with...lol. I have learned to be a little more lienient with her and that helps keep communication open and she is more helpful that way. But I am still a strict mommy and that will never change :D

Happy Tuesday!! I am SO stressed, through the roof. My husbands office is 4 hours away from our house, therefore, he works from home. (He telecommutes) Anyway, he had to drive to the office to go out in the field. So I am left home alone (first time in 2 years), no car, and 5 WILD kids. Child #3 only goes to kindergarten 2 times a week and child #4 goes to preschool 2 times a week, BUT no preschool because I have no way to get him there... I called the church (he goes to christian preschool) to see if anyone lives near me who could pick Nicky up and take him to school... so far no luck.

Last night was rough, trying to get them all to bed... it is amazing how different they are when dad is around...lol. Why arent they like that with me?? They just ignore everything I say... even my 2 yr old... I thought I was this tough mom who had these well behaved kids but as soon as dad is gone... they are like different kids. They dont listen to me, they are demanding (no please no thank yous), my 2 yr old started yelling at me because Dora wasnt on TV... can you believe that?? She actually screamed in my face. What a stinker!!

I didnt sleep well last night... I was paranoid that someone was going to break in the house or something and what would I protect my kids with?? Scrapbooking supplies?? Pinking shears?? My Cricut machine?? LOL...and we live in this real nice neighborhood, all brand new houses, so i dont know why I was thinking that way. Okay enough of my TOO EXCITING life... hahahaha.

On to the freebie... I found these colors (pink and greens)and I just loved them together... so I just dove in and starting making paper, then came some swirlys, and the elements...the kids were needing me every 2 seconds so I had to keep stopping...and I just decided to offer it to you all as a freebie... just a little stress reliever gift :) Hope you all like it... Good afternoon...my friend and I were sharing color palettes last night and she showed me this one with aqua blue and black in it. I fell in love with it...it is SO unlike all my other kits but I had to make a kit. I did it last night and finished it up this morning. Its called Shabby Chic... also I finally finished the pink kit I was working on, for what seemed FOREVER... I dont know if it was the lack of colors or what but I had a real hard time with this kit, called Lost without You. Hope you all are having a good day!! Good Afternoon, hope you all are doing well. I have had one heck of a week. My husbands work has been real slow lately... winter months... so times have been real hard for us. And to add to all the stress, our oven went out. It is only 2 yrs old...LOL...I think it is the heating element... and its about 60$ to buy a new one.... so it has been on hold for a week or so. I have been cooking in our pressure cooker...we have had SO many roasts its not even funny...lol. Payday is coming so and I just cant wait...think I am just going to cook Kraft macaroni and cheese tonight for dinner...hehehe. I dont feel much like cooking anyway.

Good afternoon....we have had a lazy Sunday...me and 13 yr old daughter have been doing laundry...oh fun... I know... hubby has been in his office doing work....2 yr old daughter has been taking a 3 hour nap.... and the 3 boys are playing video games. I finally finished up my new kit. IT'S A SAD SAD DAY....

I am totally freaking out right now...I work on a laptop... and I have used up almost ALL my space. My husband is a computer geek... well he finished building our server last night and he told me that he created a drive just for all my scrapbooking stuff so I can take it off my machine and keep it on the server. I was like great!! SO, I copied and pasted my entire "my documents" folder, which contained ALL my scrapbooking stuff. After it was finished copying I went into my C drive and started deleting all my stuff. Well, I got a window that popped up that said files too big for recycle bin do you want to delete permantely ... so i clicked ok thinking... i dont need this stuff anymore.

After that was finished I logged onto the server and clicked on my scrapbooking stuff and NOTHING WAS THERE. ALL my stuff was gone... it had not copied. So I went back to my machine and there was nothing there of course, I just deleted it.

I have LOST EVERYTHING that I had... all my scrap pages I made of my kids, their photos, my scrap designs, MY NEW KIT I WAS GOING TO PUT UP TODAY, ALL my purchased graphics, ALL my purchased commercial use products and the ones I have collected... EVERYTHING... I just want to cry... I can not believe that I have nothing... I am at ground zero... all I have left is whatever plug ins, brushes, actions I have installed in Photoshop...

I am using PC Inspector File Recovery and it recovered ALL of it... I was like YES.. thank you GOD. Well, after I restored it only recovered the folder and none of the files in the folders... so I am back to square one... I am so livid and I dont know what to do.... any suggestions would help...

Happy New Year!! WOO HOO 2008!! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday, ate lots of food, stayed warm, spent time with the family and most of all enjoyed yourselves. Well, me, hubby, and the 5 kids packed up and went to mother in laws house... oh what fun that was... no kidding... it wasnt that bad. We drove 4 hours to get there and stopped and played in the snow over the mountain pass... that was definitely a highlight of the trip.

I have some exciting news... I will be selling my kits at Deco-Pages.com . Good morning or good evening ... lol... it is about midnight here and well, I had a burst of creativity so I thought I would put it to good use and make a new kit for you all. It is called "Hall Closet" and can be purchased at my store. I also made a QP for a freebie using the new kit... I of course used a pic of my darling 2yr old daughter, Bella!! Isnt she just a doll?? Imagine that, I am designing now. I LOVE it. I am having so much fun. I have met lots of great people but one gal I met, Jenny... has been absolutely wonderful to me. Not only has she encouraged me to design but she is letting me sell my kits at her store.... isnt that awesome!!
